I know everyone is waiting for the annual August slam fest, Pirahna bite--so am I!  Fishing was tough again today.  A couple of boats slammed them in skinny water just outside the pier head while working north, and a couple of others did not.  Setting up on the bank in the 01's I was very excited---marking tons of fish, had a couple of quick bites then they were gone.  Best water was at the stick, off the nets, also up in the 07's and 08's by the chub nets.  For me it was the 33.0 line from the stick south, with 3yr olds (great eaters), steelhead and lakers.  White Pearl glow, on high divers 120-140 back were my best, followed by Blue Bubble and Blue Pearl Glow on wires 85 back.  Talking to other charters, divers were the best, most only had 1-2 rigger bites, copper and cores with rotators were a far second best.  Morning to afternoon the best colors keep changing from blues to greens then back again, not like in past years where you could run the same program for 5 weeks straight and not change a bait.  a strong NNW wind is ripping along right now but it has not cooled the water down as much as I thought it would, (just spoke to a polecat who is fishing now) the break is at 40ft along the bank but still fairly warm inside, should be fish there in the morning.  Also on 2,3,5 colors, running DW double orange crush, goldilocks, fireballs have been good.

Fishing was a little tougher today---but the fish were there.  Marking a lot of fish!!!  Some boats did very well, but most struggled.  Best water was 50-60 ft first thing, 160ft-200 off the stick and outside the nets.  02.0-03.0 about the 33.4 line, there was a nice vertical thermal at 60ft down of about 3.5 degrees and most fish came on the warm side.  Outside the nets to the 06's was good this evening.  Green Crush Spin Doctor 75 down on a rigger, Green Slick 240 on a high diver, Gr. NBK 240 on a high Diver, Moonshine Smitty on a 400 copper.  Blue Bubble 130 back on a wire.  Orange Spoons--Double Orange Crush, Fireballs, Jerry Lee, Orange Lasers on 3, 5 color cores the last two days have been good after the morning flurry and until early evening.  Kings, Trout, coho and Steelhead.  The water warmed up and the break was about 70-75 down this afternoon.  Surface at the stick was 75deg.  The current was ripping south to north this afternoon.  Let's hope that settles down, it makes fishing harder.

Fishing continues to be very good.  The water cooled off along the bank, and the east wind swept it clean.  There were fish first thing on top but that shut down fairly quickly.  Fishing was better at daylight just off the edge in 140-150ft.  Ace-Hi plugs on Half cores were hot, along with high divers with White Double Pearl Glow spin Doctors.  The fish moved out deeper as the sun came up and along the 33 line in the 03's and 04's fishing was good.  A Blue slick Spin Doctor and Yellow crush on a low wires have been steady.  A full core and rigger at 40ft has been smoking with a Moonshine Mag Crab, a friend gave me that tip and it has paid off.  Another tip that paid off well for the deep water sets I have been struggling with (not consistent) 100ft leads of the riggers down 105 ft were good this morning with Black Crush Spin Doctors and 11" white DW Paddles.  Familiar Bite Alewives have been working very well on Meat Rigs.  Thank-you for all the emails concerning VHS and using the certified bait from Familiar Bite which you can get at PM Sports in Ludington---protecting our Gr. Lakes and Inland Lakes is a major item to conserve this terrific fishery.  (Just ask Budd Lake in Clare Cty residents about their desert)

Fishing is good with nice healthy fish.  Don't fish with the guys on the left of the screen.  One of them lost quite a few fish and I thought he was going to cry.  He went and pouted, and I thanked him for saving me more cleaning, I would call that a perfect trade off!!

Fishing was very good this morning with a strong North wind.  As we fished the water was flipping, and getting colder and pushing up higher in the water column.  Meat rigs have been very good and consistent for the last week.  Moonshine Double Trouble was very good 45 down on a rigger.  Blue Bubble on wires, White Crush and Blue Bubble on riggers, White Double Pearl Glow on high divers.  Best fishing was the top 60ft first thing in the morning along the bank.  A north troll was very difficult due to the wind and waves.  Some boats did very well on the down troll, by setting up at the light house and trolling south.  The skinny water was happening also with plugs on cores, even though the water was warm first thing this morning.

The water is finally setting up with the calmer weather and fishing is very good.  Along the bank, off the bank, fish are being caught.  02.5 to the 5's.  The south troll was the best for me and several other guys I spoke to also.  Core and half's, 400ft coppers with Moonshine Smitty's and White and Gr. Dolphin Spin Doctors with Pickled Sunshine flies.  Blue Bubble on Wires 115 early in the morn 130-140.  White Double Pearl Glows and Mtn Dew's on highs 140, early on then 200-240 back later in the morning.  Spoons Bloody Nose, Do-De-K, Double Trouble 45-50 down to start, then Smitty down 75 later in the morning.  Dk. Blue and Blue Bubble Spin Doctors on riggers 85 and 115 all morning were very good.

Young and old can enjoy salmon fishing.  Sometimes it's fishing and other times it's catching.  But you can always have fun!

Fishing was good for some and tough for others.  Location, Location, Location!!!  South winds yesterday, strong west today, I started off the bank and the fish were not there.  Most of the fish and bait were 80-100ft on top or along the edge of the bank around the bath house.  At the stick, 02.8-03.5, 135-180ft of water held quite a few fish  Wires with Bl. bubble 100-120 back were the best.  High divers with White Pearl double Glow were very good.  After 9:00a.m. the chrome blades Lemon Ice and Mtn Dew turned on really strong.  Cores 5, 10 ,15 with plugs, my best was Gr. Ladder Back J-Plugs.  10 and 15 color with Moonshine Lemon seeds and Yeck Lightning, both yellow glow paint were very good.  Rigger bite was slow but some fish were being taken on them 50-120ft down. (I know that does not narrow it down).  Water temp was very close to the same 60-90 down.  No firm layer so fish were scattered.  Not many boats out today, nobody fishing south, if the fish were not north, very thick they are either out deep or south of the harbor.  But they did not go far.  My guess is that the best fishing is yet to come, we have not seen the big slug of fish yet.
